Effective color combinations in isosurface visualization
نویسندگان
چکیده
The suitability of three classes of strategies governing color combination selection in isosurface-based volume visualization are explored. These classes are use of: (1) harmonious color combinations, (2) disharmonious color combinations, and (3) opponent color combinations. Suitability is assessed here via user evaluation of renderings of isosurfaces with multiple (nested) components. The significance of these user evaluations are also analyzed statistically.

Adaptive Multi-valued Volume Data Visualization Using Data-dependent Error Metrics
Adaptive, and especially view-dependent, volume visualization is used to display large volume data at interactive frame rates preserving high visual quality in specified or implied regions of importance. In typical approaches, the error metrics and refinement oracles used for viewdependent rendering are based on viewing parameters only. The approach presented in this paper considers viewing par...

1 Compared with full volume rendering, isosurface rendering has 2 several well recognized advantages in efficiency and accuracy. 3 However, standard isosurface rendering has some limitations in ef4 fectiveness. First, it uses a monotone colored approach and can 5 only visualize the geometry features of an isosurface. The lack 6 of the capability to illustrate the material property and the inter...
متن کاملUncertainty Visualization Methods in Isosurface Volume Rendering
We describe two techniques for rendering isosurfaces in multiresolution volume data so that the uncertainty (error) in the data is shown in the visualization. In general the visualization of uncertainty in data is difficult, but the nature of isosurface rendering makes it amenable to an effective solution. In addition to showing the error in the data used to generate the isosurface, we can also...
متن کاملExperiments on effective color combinations in map-based information visualization
The effect of harmonious versus non-harmonious color combinations in one aspect of information visualization effectiveness is considered. One focus is the relative suitability of two competing paradigms for determining color combinations that are harmonious. A second focus is the suitability of using opposing (i.e., opponent) colors for feature presentation in information visualization. The eff...
